Not only are we seeing more concussion in youth, but we now understand more about the pathophysiology and necessary recovery for this mild traumatic brain injury.
If your student sustains a concussion, it is crucial for them to be evaluated and treated by a trained healthcare provider. As with any health/medical condition, please make sure you obtain detailed medical documentation to submit to the school. It has become evident that concussed individuals need modification of their school day in order to recover most expeditiously.

To go to school in Minnesota, students must show they've had the required immunizations or file a legal exemption with the school. To claim an exemption, complete one of the waivers with appropriate signatures on the Pupil Immunization Record. A health care provider must sign medical exemptions. Conscientious exemptions must be signed by th parent/guardian and notarized.
Some students may require medication to be administered during the school day.

Healthy Sleep Habits
Most teens need about 8½ to more than 9 hours of sleep each night. Getting the right amount of sleep is essential for anyone who wants to do well on a test or play sports without stumbling. Unfortunately, though, many teens don't get enough sleep.
