YAM (Youth Art Month) is a wonderful event showcasing the artistic talent of Hopkins School District students. This event takes place at the Hopkins Center for the Arts during the month of March. A set number of works are allowed for each building. Here at Eisenhower and XinXing, one artwork per classroom is chosen for the show. Giving back to the community! Empty Bowls has been a Hopkins Tradition for over 15 years. Students from the elementary, junior high and high school partner with local artists and programs to create hundreds of bowls to raise money for Resource West and the Hopkins Food Shelf. The event always takes place in March to correspond with Youth Art Month and our district Art Show at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. The spirit of Empty Bowls is to create a wonderful bowl to represent all the empty bowls in our community and to donate it freely from your heart to help someone in need. This year Empty Bowls raised over $81,000.00!
The Spring Arts Festival is another exciting event in which student artwork is on display. There is a scavenger hunt for art, student music performances, food and fun for all! Board Room and Curriculum Office Display. Each year the art department is given a period of time to showcase student works both in the board room and outside the district offices. A variety of student work is chosen for this display.
