AP Chemistry is designed to be equivalent to a college or university freshman Chemistry course in format and rigor. The course covers the following topic areas: structure of matter – including atomic theory, bonding, and nuclear chemistry; states of matter – including solids, liquids, gases, solutions, and colligative properties; chemical reactions – including types of reactions, stoichiometry, kinetics, and thermodynamics; descriptive chemistry – including reactivity and products of reactions, relationships and patterns of the Periodic Table, and introductory organic chemistry.
